MSNBC – Advice from an Expert on Coping with Election Results

This blog is named – ListenFirstPlease.com for a reason – I’m concerned that we don’t have the ability or interest to really hear each other and that inability causes rifts that are easily avoidable!  With that in mind, please review the following video which was aired on MSNBC’s  show The ReidOut hosted by Joy Reid.

Enjoy!

Firstly – you need to understand that this advice was probably viewed by 845,000 + people.  Here are a few facts regarding Joy Reid’s reach which I found online:

The ReidOut is a U.S. television program shown on MSNBC since Monday, July 20, 2020. ReidOut is currently the sixth most popular show on MSNBC and 110th overall on TV, watched by a total number of 845,000 people (0.27% rating, down -55% from Monday) as of the daily audience measurement on November 7, 2024. The ReidOut is hosted by Joy-Ann Lomena-Reid (55).

Now that we know the scope of the audience; let’s do a little more analysis!

I don’t know if it was clear, but Dr. Amanda Calhoun is a Yale Psychiatrist!  I think the video made that clear but I was just making certain you picked up on that!  Yale Psychiatrist – Wow – she must be a smart one!  I mean, just by her association with Yale – that tells you something – doesn’t it?  P.S. – I am certain that she is smart – but smart does not make you wise!

Below please find quotes from Dr. Calhoun’s interview with Joy Reid.  I’ve also attached an article found in the New York Post that details the interview.

https://nypost.com/2024/11/09/us-news/yale-psychiatrist-urges-msnbc-viewers-to-avoid-trump-voting-family-members-over-the-holidays

“There is a societal push that, if somebody is your family, they are entitled to your time. And I think the answer is absolutely not,”…   “So, if you are going to a situation where you have family members or you have close friends who you know have voted in ways that are against you, like what you said, against your livelihood, and it’s completely fine to not be around those people, and to tell them why,”

Now, according to this Yale “expert”, you need not feel bad that you shun your family or friends at Thanksgiving or Christmas because one or more of your family members or friends voted for Trump.  (Please note that she did not actually say “voted for Trump” but it seems pretty clear since it is MSNBC.) Not only is it OK to shun them – let’s double-down and tell them why you are avoiding them!  Telling them off – well that should bring about some family harmony – wouldn’t you agree?  I mean – is there no greater sin than voting for Trump?  Really – it is inconceivable that one or more of your family members or friends decided to cast a vote for a man that you strongly despise!

Dr. Calhoun needs to get a grip!  Let’s face it – people cast their vote for their reasons – not yours.  Let’s vow to do something different this holiday season – let’s show some respect for people that view politics a little differently!  Comments??
